This is recommended for overall good health. As the name suggests, this mudra helps optimal flow of the prana (vital energy) in the body. Practicing this mudra energizes and activates every cell of the body and thus helps in regulating the biochemical and physiological processes and induces youthfulness and alacrity.
This mudra enhances vitality and immune system of the body. It invigorates the defense mechanism of the body and thus increases its capacity to fight against dreaded diseases. Its regular practice is found quite effective in recovery against thyroid problems and several kinds of cancer. More the patient practices it, the greater would be the benefits.
Method of performing Prana Mudra:
Here are the steps that you should follow to perform the Prana Mudra:
- The Prana Mudra should ideally be performed while sitting down in meditative posture such as the Padma Asana (Lotus Pose) or while standing up straight in the Tada Asana or Mountain Pose. However, it can be performed any time that you need a quick pick-me-up.
- Keep your eyes closed and focus on your breath.
- Bring your hands up to your sides.
- Touch the tips of your ring finger and little finger to your thumb. The index and middle
- finger should be pointed straight.
- Feel the life force as it rushes through your body.
- The Prana Mudra should be practiced for 15 to 30 minutes.
Caution:
People with Kapha dominant body should refrain from doing Prana mudra. It should be avoided if you are suffering from cough and cold.
